our approach

We diagnose, monitor and manage the full range of eye conditions.

From the most common refractive errors to complex retinal conditions, our expert team has the diagnostic technology and the clinical experience to detect what is happening with your eyes - and to explain it simply for your peace of mind.

EYE CONDITIONS

What are the most common eye conditions we see?

Condition 1: Myopia (short-sightedness)

If distant objects look blurry while close-up vision remains clear, you may have myopia - one of the most common refractive errors. We assess your vision through refraction, prescribe suitable glasses or contact lenses, and discuss myopia management where appropriate.

Condition 2: Hyperopia (long-sightedness)

If reading feels tiring or you experience headaches after close-up work, you may have hyperopia. It is common in children whose eyes compensate without obvious blurred vision. We assess through refraction and prescribe suitable lenses to support clear, comfortable vision.

Condition 3: Astigmatism

Blurred or distorted vision, eye strain and difficulty seeing at night may be signs of astigmatism. It occurs when the cornea has an uneven curvature and can sit alongside myopia or hyperopia. We assess through refraction and prescribe glasses or toric lenses for clear vision.

Condition 4: Glaucoma

Glaucoma can damage the optic nerve gradually, often without noticeable symptoms early on. Our OCT scanner detects subtle changes alongside other tests to assess it. Early detection and treatment can help protect your vision, which is why regular eye examinations matter even when things seem normal.

Condition 5: Cataracts

Hazy vision, increased glare from headlights and colours appearing less vibrant may be signs of cataracts. A gradual clouding of the eye’s natural lens. We assess and monitor cataracts through slit lamp examination and refer for surgery when they begin to affect your daily activities and quality of life.

Condition 6: Macular Degeneration

Also referred to as AMD - it quietly steals central vision - blurring faces, distorting straight lines, making detail hard to read. It's the leading cause of vision loss in over-50s. Our OCT scanner catches the earliest retinal changes, giving us the best possible window to act before it progresses.

why it matters

The Sanders Standard of Care

Caught Early, Treated Well

Most eye conditions develop without obvious symptoms. The earlier we detect a change, the more options we have. A routine examination does far more than update your prescription.

Devices That See Deeper

Our OCT scan produces detailed cross-sections of your retina - identifying glaucoma and AMD before any symptoms appear. It's the difference between managing a condition and preventing it.

Frequently Asked Questions...

I have some of these symptoms. How do I know which condition I have?

The honest answer is that you won't know until you're properly examined - that's exactly what we're here for. Many conditions share symptoms, which is why a clinical assessment using the right equipment is the only reliable way to identify what's happening with your eyes.

Can my prescription get worse over time?

Yes - particularly in children and young adults, prescriptions can change as the eye develops. This is why we recommend annual eye tests for under-18s and biennial tests for most adults. Keeping your prescription current is one of the simplest ways to protect your vision long-term.

Glaucoma runs in my family. Am I at risk?

A family history of glaucoma is one of the most significant risk factors. We recommend that anyone with a first-degree relative diagnosed with glaucoma has an eye examination - including an OCT scan - at least every year, even with no symptoms present.
