Auto-Refractor Keratometer
Precision measurement - before the examination even begins.
Accurate from the very first reading.
The Auto-Refractor Keratometer is one of the first instruments used during your visit at Sanders. In just a few seconds, it gives us an objective measurement of how your eye focuses light - providing a starting point for your prescription that is accurate, consistent and free from guesswork.
It also measures the curvature of your cornea, which is the clear front surface of the eye. This is particularly important for contact lens fittings, where the shape of the cornea determines which lens will sit comfortably and correctly on your eye.
The test is entirely automated and takes only moments. You simply rest your chin on the instrument and look at a small target inside - no air puffs, no discomfort and nothing to prepare for.
What it gives us is a precise, data-driven foundation from which your optometrist can then refine your prescription during the full examination. It means less time spent estimating and more time focused on what matters - understanding your vision and your eyes.
The Auto-Refractor Keratometer is used as standard across all eye examinations at Sanders.
