your eye test

You’re building new ideas together. You’re navigating collaboration, change, and the pressure to deliver.

These workshops aren’t about rushing. They’re about slowing down, aligning, and creating room to connect, explore, and uncover what’s possible.

SYMPTOMS

Do you recognise any of these?

Dry, irritated or burning eyes

When we focus on screens, we blink up to 60% less than usual. This reduces tear film coverage, leaving eyes feeling dry, gritty or uncomfortable - often worsening throughout the day.

Headaches - particularly after extended screen time

Screen-related headaches typically build behind the eyes or across the forehead. They're often caused by the eye muscles overworking to maintain focus - a sign your eyes need rest and assessment.

Blurred vision

Difficulty shifting focus between your screen and the room around you is a key warning sign. Known as accommodative spasm, it means your eye muscles are struggling to adjust between distances.

Neck and shoulder tension

Poor screen positioning causes you to lean forward or tilt your head to see clearly - placing strain on your neck and shoulders. This often signals an uncorrected prescription rather than posture alone.

Difficulty concentrating after hours

When your eyes are working harder than they should, your brain diverts energy to compensate - leaving less for focus and retention. If concentration dips after a few hours, your eyes may be the cause.

Sensitivity to light or glare

Increased sensitivity to bright light or screen glare often develops gradually, making it easy to dismiss. It can indicate dry eye, early refractive changes, or prolonged visual fatigue - all worth investigating.

Inside the examination

It’s more than just reading a chart

Step 1: Your history first

Every examination opens with a conversation about your vision, your work, your family history and anything you have noticed.

Step 2: Visual Acuity

The familiar part. We test each eye individually to establish how clearly you see at distance and near, which gives us our first indication of whether anything has changed.

Step 3: Precise Refraction

Using automated and manual refraction together, we determine your prescription precisely. If you already wear glasses or lenses, we compare what you are wearing with what your eyes need now.

Step 4: Slit Lamp Exam

A detailed view of the front of the eye: cornea, lens and iris. This picks up early cataracts, corneal changes and signs of dry eye long before you would notice them.

I had not had my eyes tested in nine years. Forty minutes later I understood more about my own vision than I ever have.

Frequently Asked Questions...

Does an eye test hurt?

Not at all. The examination is entirely non-invasive. The OCT scan involves looking into a device, with no contact and no drops needed for a standard scan.

How often should I have an eye test?

Every two years for most adults. Annually if you are over 60, live with diabetes, have a family history of glaucoma, or notice any change in your vision. Children every year.

Can I drive afterwards?

A standard OCT scan uses no dilating drops, so yes. If drops are needed for any reason, we will let you know before your appointment.
