Most optical practices send your prescription to an external laboratory to be manufactured. We do not. Sanders operates a fully equipped in-house lens laboratory at our Fife Avenue practice - which means your lenses are cut, edged and finished by our own team, to our own standard, in our own time.
HOW WE MAKE YOUR LENSES
FromPrescriptiontoFinishedSpecs
Step 1: Prescription Verified
Your prescription is reviewed and confirmed in full before any work begins. Every detail is checked against your clinical record to ensure accuracy from the very first step.

Step 2: Lens Selected
The correct lens blank is chosen based on your prescription, your frame and the lens type recommended - single vision, bifocal, varifocal or specialist. The right starting material makes everything that follows more precise.

Step 3: Lens Surfaced
The lens surface is shaped using our generator, then polished to achieve the correct optical power. This is where the prescription is physically formed into the lens material to your exact specification.

Frequently Asked Questions...
How long does it take to have lenses made at Sanders?
Most lenses are ready within 24 - 48 hours. Because we cut, surface and edge in-house, we’re not dependent on third-party labs or courier timelines - which means you’re not waiting days or weeks for your glasses.
Why does having an in-house lab matter for my lenses?
Because every step - from surfacing to fitting - happens under one roof, we can oversee quality at each stage and make adjustments without sending your lenses to an external facility. The result is a more precise finish and a faster turnaround than the industry standard.
What happens if my lenses don’t feel right after collection?
We adjust them on the spot. Because the lab is in the same building, any refinement - whether to the prescription, the fit or the lens itself - can often be assessed and resolved during your visit rather than requiring you to leave your frames and come back days later.
